Please read the terms and conditions of this sale and become familiar with them. Owners (stallion and mare) are
bound by these terms and conditions whether you read them or not. If you have any questions, please contact the
SSA Secretary or Chairman.
First - Services sold are for the 2007 season only, with live foal guaranteed, only to the extent of one (1) return
in the following year with the same mare, or a substitute mare, in case of death or vet-certified breeding unsoundness,
no other exceptions. Should the mare presented to the stallion by the person who purchased the service not conceive
the first year, this person will have the right to present the same or a substitute mare (as described above) to
the same stallion the second year for breeding. If the mare presented to the stallion does not conceive and goes
to a different stallion the same year, the return breeding for the following year will be null and void. This,
and only this, resulting foal will be allowed to move its eligibility to the following years race, and this move
will be allowed only one time. No other foals will be allowed to change eligibility years unless the stallion meets
all requirements the following year.
Second - It is the mare owner's responsibility to report to the Stallion Auction Secretary if his mare is not in
foal, aborts, dies, or foal is stillborn.
Third - Minimum bid is $300.00 unless stallion owner designates a higher bid. Any farm fee or chute fee is included
in minimum bid unless otherwise specified.
Fourth - IQHRA and the stallion donator agree that the stallion services which did not sell at the auction may
become eligible for the Iowa Double Gold Futurity and Derby by a donation of $300.00 to IQHRA at the auction or
before June 1, 2007 by the stallion donator or any individual may purchase the service for the minimum designated
bid.
Fifth - Purchaser of service may take as many mares to said stallion as he wishes and not nominate the mare until
March 1, 2009 for the breeder's bonus eligibility. Additional mares will be booked at the agreed price of the stallion
owner.
Sixth - Please make checks payable to the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association. Payment for services purchased
are due during or immediately after the auction unless previous arrangements have been made. All phone or e-mail
bid must be confirmed with a credit card or advance check. Send separate check for each stallion and mail to IQHRA,
3535 E Court, Des Moines IA 50317. All bids are final. All unsuccessful bids the checks will be voided and returned.
Seventh - Prospective bidders are cautioned that the IQHRA will not be responsible for changes in a Stallion's
health or location. No credits or refunds will be given, unless the Stallion dies before servicing a mare owned
by the purchaser of that breeding. In the event a rebred is necessary credit (minus any farm fee and donation fee)
will be given only if the stallion is unavailable for breeding. Rebred credit must be used the year given or the
next year only. Failure to present a mare to the stallion whose service was purchased shall result in forfeiture
of the entire breeding. Any other variations must be agreed upon between the buyer and the Stallion owner or his
agent.
Eighth - IQHRA pays a one (1) time farm or chute fee from purchase price of breeding unless otherwise specified.
Any additional farm or chute fee's are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Ninth - Stallion owner will not be responsible for any disease, accident, sickness, and/or death of mare or foal,
and similarly mare owner will not be responsible for any disease, accident, sickness, and/or death of stallion.
Tenth - Mares, in order to qualify for this breeding service, must be halter broke and have negative Coggins test.
All mares taken to Thoroughbred stallions must be Quarter Horse Mares unless otherwise specified or approved by
Stallion owner. Both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses mares are eligible for Quarter Horse stallions.
Eleventh - Bids are for stallion seasons only. Successful bidders are responsible for all other charges such as
cooled semen collection fee's, freight charges, mare and/or foal care, veterinary care, etc .
Twelfth - The Sale Management and the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association acts as agent only and will endeavor
to protect the interest of both the buyer and the donator. Before a stallion service can be resold, the successful
bidder is required to have approval from the stallion owner.
Thirteenth - The Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association will endeavor to have all catalogue information correctly
stated; but the donator is responsible for eligibility, to whom only purchaser shall look for redress in case of
error or omission.
INFORMATION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
First - The stallion owner will be responsible for furnishing to the race managers a list of names and addresses
of those who bred to that stallion by the end of the year of each auction.
Second - The race manager will be responsible for the timely notification of all the eligible participants as to
payment schedules and deadlines.
Third - Owners of eligible horses will be responsible for the timely payments as per the advertised schedules.
Questions and problems will be addressed to the race manager and board of directors.
Fourth - IQHRA Stallion Service Auction Futurity and Derby will be run at an AQHA recognized track as designated
by the race manager and board of directors as the Iowa Double Gold Futurity and Derby.
Fifth - In order for a horse to be eligible for the futurity and derby it must meet all requirements as stated
in these rules as well as be registered with the American Quarter Horse Association.
Sixth - Time trials will be held at a time specified by the host track with finalists being selected on the time
bases. Should there be a malfunction of the timer the Stewards hand times will be official.
Seventh - Payment schedules will be established by the race manager and board of directors on a yearly basis. The
race manager and board of directors will have the right to change payments, payment dates, as well as race dates
from year to year. IQHRA reserves the right to cancel either the Futurity or Derby if insufficient number of entries
is received.
Eighth - If there is sufficient participation, the race manager and board of directors may elect to write a consolation
race. Purse for this consolation will be developed by withholding 5% from the final net purse.
Ninth - IQHRA guarantees that a minimum of 50% of stallion auction net proceeds will be contributed for added money.
The IQHRA and the undersigned agree that the donated breeding service carries a LIVE FOAL GUARANTEE unless otherwise
stipulated below in conditions of sale.
Tenth - A $2500 stallion award will be paid to sire of the winners in the Iowa Double Gold Futurity and Derby.
Eleventh - A $2500 breeder award will be paid if a breeding purchased the day of this auction results in the winning
horses of the Iowa Double Gold Futurity and Derby.
Twelfth - Iowa Double Gold Futurity and Derby and resulting races are functions of the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing
Association.
Thirteenth - In the Futurity and Derby Race, the resulting service must produce a foal eligible for registration
with the American Quarter Horse Association.
Fourteenth - Original AQHA registration papers must be in the host track Racing Office at the time of the race
trials and finals.
Fifteenth - Any purchaser of a service in the Auction of an (Appendix) or a (Thoroughbred) will purchase with the
knowledge of AQHA requirements for registration of the resulting foal. Thoroughbred stallions will be sold for
Quarter Horse mares unless otherwise specified by stallion owner.
Sixteenth - No refunds will be made if foal fails to obtain AQHA registration.
Seventeenth - AQHA Requirements
No Fees will be charged by the AQHA to permit the use of transported cooled semen.
The AQHA has developed the COOLED SEMEN TRANSPORTATION CERTIFICATE, a four-copy form which has sections to be completed
by the stallion's owner or authorized agent and a section to be completed by the mare's owner or authorized agent.
This form will accompany each shipment of semen. Directions for sending copies by respective parties are at the
bottom of each form.
Any AQHA foal resulting from the use of transported cooled semen must have it pedigree verified by genetic testing
(DNA testing), including sire, dam, foal and/or by other genetic testing as AQHA deems necessary.
Any AQHA foal resulting from the use of transported cooled semen shall not be registered without a TRANSPORTED
SEMEN BREEDER'S CERTIFICATE (not the standard breeder's certificate). This will be provided by the stallion owner
or authorized agent.
Eighteenth - Cooled Semen
The IQHRA will not be responsible for the availability or condition of cooled semen. It is the purchaser's responsibility
to contract the stallion farm to see if cooled semen is going to be available.
